Many organisation have a defined and often automated process for creating/archiving SharePoint Sites and libraries around business activities such as new/closed projects.

In many instances, the organisation has all the information to determine who in the business should have access to these new SharePoint locations (libraries, lists, folders, document sets) for creating and accessing content. This is often available or can be derived using information stored in SharePoint (such as security permissions), Active directory or other external systems.

The business now needs a powerful and flexibly mechanism to access and intelligently use this information to create and deploy SharePoint filing locations within desktop applications such as Microsoft Outlook, File Explorer and Microsoft Office. In the case of Outlook, adding the relevant SharePoint locations to the left navigation of Outlook (as Outlook folders) so the user can simply drag and drop emails or attachments to SharePoint.
